Y(OUR) HERO’S JOURNEY
Welcome to Y(OUR) Hero’s Journey. This is a 13-week online course that leads you through an internal discovery process that helps you discover your passion, and ways to work with your obstacles. We provide different approaches for people experiencing different journeys.
You might ask, What is A Hero’s Journey? At its most basic, it’s discovering insights and experiencing events that shape who you are. At its most complex, it’s a rich and multi-layered story about rebellion, refusal to grow, the teachers, the lessons, the overcoming obstacles. Our point is this: it belongs to you. It’s your story. You can make it as basic or as rich an experience as you like. We’d like to give you some tools to move through your journey. We’d like to know your thoughts about moving through life. Come and journey with us. It’s insightful!
How does your inner Hero communicate?
Modes of expression in the 13 week Journey:
- Writing: Writing is an art engaged through language. The process of capturing experiences, emotion, or thoughts into the written word is powerful.
- Visual Arts: Do you best express yourself creatively? Do you process using paint, pencils, paper, or electronic media?
- Music/Performance: Do you process through singing or entertaining? Tell us about it!
Y(OUR) Hero’s Journey For Middle School (grades 6-8)
Our young teens struggle with their sense of self, their identity, their boundaries, and emotional regulation. The world is suffering from climate change and upheaval. How do they identify who they are and what they want to explore; their interests? What kind of adults are their role models? We use Minecraft as a creative and interactive vehicle and an after school check in, and Discord to chat and call. This program provides some mentorship and practical guidance for getting to know themselves.
Y(OUR) Hero’s Journey For High School (grades 9-12)
Our young adults struggle with their sense of self, their identity, their future, and their emotional regulation. The world has had incredible challenges that have interrupted almost every aspect of our lives. These young people are trying to prepare for launch. How do they identify who they are and what they want to do and be in this world? What kind of adult will they be? We work in Minecraft, virtually on Discord together, and in real time projects learning about riparian restoration and local ecosystem restoration. This program provides some mentorship and practical guidance for launching into the world.
Y(OUR) Hero’s Journey For Young Adults (age 18-24)
Often, adults look around and realize that while their head was down working their joy became more difficult to find. Who are you now? What has shaped you? What do you still want to do in the world? This program is an exploration for adults looking to reclaim a sense of self, direction, or purpose. It is also a check in for someone who wants to just take a look to see if their priorities are still what they thought. This is a weekly program that utilizes online forums, video chats, and group learning to examine, engage, and use tools and perspectives.
